Cookie Policy

Last updated: 27 May 2026

The short version: Heardley uses one essential cookie (your login session) and a small amount of browser localStorage for in-progress drafts and UI preferences. There are no advertising cookies, no third-party retargeting pixels, and no cross-site trackers.

No cookie banner. Because we only use strictly-necessary cookies (the ones that ePrivacy carves out from consent requirements), we don't show a cookie banner. If we ever add anything that requires consent, that changes.

Cookies we set

NamePurposeDuration
session Keeps you signed in across page loads. HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax. 30 days (sliding)

localStorage we use

localStorage is stored in your browser and never sent to Heardley's servers. We use it so you can navigate away from the dashboard and come back to your work-in-progress without losing it.

Key prefixWhat's in itCleared
h:view Last view you visited (Threads / Personas / etc.). On Sign Out
h:project Last active project id. On Sign Out
h:draft:<...> Generated reply drafts so you can leave the modal and return. 7-day TTL. On Mark Replied or Sign Out
h:linter:* Reply-linter input fields. 1-day TTL. On Sign Out
h:wizard:* In-progress new-project form. 7-day TTL. On Create Project or Sign Out
h:personanew:* In-progress new-persona form. 7-day TTL. On Save or Cancel
h:settings:tab / h:threads:status UI preferences (last tab / filter). On Sign Out

Third-party scripts

The marketing pages (the public ones at /, /about, /alternatives, etc.) load two scripts from Vercel:

Neither runs on the dashboard at /app. Neither sets cookies. Both can be blocked by ad blockers without breaking the site.

How to clear

Changes

If we ever add a cookie that requires consent (e.g. ad attribution, analytics with identifiers), this page changes and we'll show a banner on the marketing site.
